The EDGE Program: Review Payment Pricing Before You Change Workflows
EDGE is a Custom Payments review process for businesses evaluating cash discounts, dual pricing, and related payment-acceptance workflows. The review focuses on the checkout experience, payment mix, customer communication, POS configuration, current requirements, and written terms—not a promise that a business will eliminate fees or achieve a particular financial result.
EDGE annual-fee disclosure
Certain Custom Payments EDGE Program client configurations use a $199 annual fee. Depending on the merchant’s account setup, that annual fee may be waived. This is not the universal pricing structure for every Custom Payments merchant. The applicable payment workflow, program terms, and written account documents control.
What to review before implementation
- Map counter, mobile, invoice, recurring, online, ACH, debit, and credit activity separately.
- Confirm price displays, receipts, notices, refund handling, and staff explanations.
- Review terminal or POS compatibility, provider roles, written account terms, funding expectations, and support paths.
- Confirm current network rules, acquiring-bank guidance, and applicable requirements for the exact configuration.
Current rule sources
Visa states that a cash discount must be a reduction from the standard price. Mastercard’s U.S. surcharge guidance describes separate customer-disclosure and credit-card requirements and notes that applicable law still applies. Review current acquirer instructions and appropriate professional advice for a specific program.
Frequently asked questions
Can a statement review promise savings?
No. A statement and workflow review can help a business organize comparison questions. It does not promise savings, a particular rate, funding schedule, or implementation outcome.
Does EDGE affect business funding?
No. Payment processing and business funding are separate decisions. Any financing offer should be reviewed independently under its own disclosures and written terms.
